Warm the Children helps buy clothes for hundreds of kids each year
EAGLE RIVER - The Vilas County News-Review, with help from the community, will provide warm clothes for nearly 600 children this year.

For 21 years, the newspaper has helped raise money for Warm the Children to buy clothes for kids. It then pairs families with shoppers.

"They'll take their children with them," said Warm the Children coordinator Jacki Risjord. "In fact we encourage that. It's a lot of fun to take a family and just say, 'Go for it, go get some clothes.'"

Families get $75 to spend on kids under 2 and $150 for children 2 years and older.

"You get all that money to spend on your kids for warm clothes," said Risjord. "We try to encourage boots, mittens, warm jackets, but we also do allow jeans and underwear."

You have to live in Vilas County, Sugar Camp, or Three Lakes and meet the eligibility requirements to qualify.

Forms can be found in the Vilas County News-Review and at couple locations around Eagle River, including Sunshine for Humanity and Caritas of Eagle River and Minocqua.

You can contact Jacki Risjord for more information at (715) 479-4421 or jackir@vcnewsreview.com.

Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 1929, Eagle River or dropped off at the newspaper office on Mill Street in Eagle River.
