Emerald Ash Borer spreads to Marathon County
MADISON - The tree killing insect Emerald Ash Borer turns up in Marathon County.

Because of the discovery, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, and Trade and Consumer Protection will quarantine the county.

A tree care service found infested trees on private property along the Wisconsin River in the Town of Rib Mountain.
Emerald Ash Borer has now been found in over half the counties in Wisconsin.

The insects are not widespread in most counties.

To slow the spread of the insect, people are asked not to take firewood from one place to another.

Emerald Ash Borer can hitch a ride to new locations on firewood.
