Hearing planned on bill to forbid sanctuary cities
MADISON - A Republican proposal would prohibit sanctuary cities for immigrants in Wisconsin.

Opponents of the plan headed for the state capitol.

That's because a Senate committee holds a hearing on the measure Thursday.
The bill would prohibit local governments from enacting any measures that would prevent federal immigration laws from being enforced.

Supporters call it a common sense proposal to protect Wisconsin citizens.

Opponents think it will provide sweeping powers to interrogate, arrest, and deport immigrants.

Bus trips to the hearing were planned from Green Bay, Manitowoc, Milwaukee and Waukesha.
