The Haunted Sawmill in Merrill plans to frighten thousands of thrill seekers
MERRILL - Friday marks the seventh anniversary of Vincent Mudgett haunting the Haunted Sawmill in Merrill.

After taking a year off, the Sawmill plans to have 16 new rooms and scares.

"This year is going to be amazing," said sawmill committee chairman Jerry Hersil.
Hersil says this year will be the scariest year yet.
"It's going to be a whole new experience for [everyone]," said Hersil.

The Haunted Sawmill started seven years ago as a fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 599.
The scouts get to create some of the thrills and frights.

"[They] create their own rooms and come up with their own characters and there is such a high level of energy," said Hersil.

The Haunted Sawmill will open its doors Friday and stay open for every weekend through Halloween.
