RHINELANDER - Northwood Golf Course will go through big changes to climb out of a more than a million dollars in debt.
One of the most noticeable ones is discounts to people living in Oneida County. Monday night, the City Council learned about updates to rates and fees.
"The rates are reduced during the week and it also separates out a resident [and] non-resident rate giving an even bigger break to the residents of Oneida County," said Golf Course Superintendent Joe Anderson.
Anderson says it was obvious the golf course wasn't doing well. Last month, the City Council approved a contract with Green Golf Partners to manage the city-owned golf course.
"It was obvious that the city could not continue down the same road that they were going with the golf course. It was in financial duress," said Anderson.
Green Golf Partners is also planning on changing the name of the bar and grill to "The Whipsaw" in hopes of giving it a fresh and catchy name.
Interim City Administrator Keith Kost says prices for seasonal passes will stay the same.
