WXPR created a pop-up record store for World Record Store Day
RHINELANDER - A Northwoods radio station did something special to celebrate World Record Store Day. WXPR Public Radio created a pop-up record store in Rhinelander.

The temporary store was created inside Art Start and ran from 12 p.m. to four p.m. on Saturday. Organizers say listeners donated about 4,000 vinyl records and 2,000 CD's for the pop-up shop.

Station Manager Jessie Dick said people donated a wide variety of music and that shoppers of all ages came out to see what music they had to offer.

"The neat thing is that you can get vinyl at a lot of record stores in bigger cities but right now we just don't have anything here and people crave it and they want it," said Dick. "So it was great to be able to provide that opportunity."

Each vinyl album and CD cost $1, all proceeds went to WXPR.
