RHINELANDER - A scoop of frozen custard goes down pretty well on a humid day like the Northwoods saw Friday. Rhinelander's Associated Bank made grabbing a scoop an easy way to help others.
Culver's set up a mobile custard stand outside the new bank building on the corner of Lincoln Street and Oneida Avenue from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fifty cents from every $2.50 cup sold went to Associated Bank's Children's Miracle Network fund.
The bank is hoping to raise $500 through its fundraisers for CMN this month.
"One of the things we take pride in is giving back to our communities, and when Marshfield Clinic came to us with the Children's Miracle Network opportunity we wanted to make sure we were involved," manager Jo Waltenberg said.
You can also contribute to Children's Miracle Network by entering a silent auction inside the bank through June 2nd. That includes prizes like an Aaron Rodgers life-size cutout, a wine package, and a summer beach package.
"It feels good to give back, rather than just coming in to work every day, we're doing something that's positive for the community," Waltenberg said.
As of 1 p.m. Friday, Waltenberg estimated the bank had raised about $200 throughout the month.
"Our customers are a giving crew. We've done very well in the past. Customers make sure that our community is taken care of."
The Rhinelander branch is one of nine in the northern region fundraising for Children's Miracle Network.
