CRANDON - As graduation gets closer, seniors start to think about what's next.
Many high school athletes will have their last few moments on the ice, court or field but a few aren't finished yet.
One of Crandon's unanimous first team all-conference players and star point guard found her next home away from home.
Neilitz signed her letter of intent to play basketball for UW-Stout next fall.
The senior had quite the successful run as a Crandon Cardinal.
She scored more than one thousand career points, was named first team all-conference three years in a row, and was a part of the state bound team in 2018.
Neilitz says she wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else but can't wait to see what's next.
"I am definitely looking forward to the next level of basketball," Neilitz said. "I am always looking to challenge myself and I definitely think that this will do that. I am looking forward to new friendships and looking forward to playing for the coaches at UW-Stout."
Nelitz's cousin and Crandon head Keegan Kincaid has coached Alexa the past two years.
He said it was an honor to be her mentor and watch her grow as a player and as a young woman.
"I am just proud of everything that she's learned the past few years," Coach Kincaid said. "I wish I had her for more honestly but this is the way it goes and I am proud that she is able to go play in college and play the game she loves."
Neilitz is a four sport athlete. She will wrap her high school career playing softball and running track.
