RHINELANDER - The City of Rhinelander might not vote on allowing ATVs on city roads until next month, but the Chamber of Commerce hopes the idea gets approval.
The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors sent a letter to the mayor and city council supporting ATV use.
The Board of Directors said it did research and spoke with people who are interested in the option. The letter said the chamber has a "duty" to stay up-to-date with changing needs in the community.
"We have determined that the potential financial benefits and advancement of transportation options will add value to the community and expand our sense of connection," the letter stated.
Under the proposal
, ATVs would have a 35 mile-per-hour speed limit and drivers would need to be at least 16. You can read the draft on the city's website here.
City Administrator Daniel Guild said via his Facebook page the Council will likely take up the final proposal June 10.
