Wausau man sentenced to eight years in federal prison for meth possession
MADISON - Last fall, a Wausau man lied to police, led them on a high-speed chase, and crashed his car.  Officers found about a pound of methamphetamine in his car.

Thursday, a federal judge made sure Jake K. Jones won't go anywhere for most of the next decade.

Police pulled over Jones, 28, in Mosinee in November 2018. He gave them a fake name, then raced away at more than 100 miles per hour, crashed, and then ran from the scene.

Officers found 420 grams of meth, which Jones planned to sell around Wausau.

At a sentencing hearing Thursday, the judge noted this was Jones' fourth felony drug offense. He sentenced Jones to eight years in prison.

The investigation involved police from around Marathon County, the FBI, DEA, and Wisconsin DOJ.
