RHINELANDER - Three recreational areas at Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will close until further notice after strong winds and rain cause damage to portions of the Lakewood-Laona Ranger District.
Forest Service personnel surveyed storm damage Saturday morning and will be continue to assess recreation sites, roads, trails and the Forest in the coming days according to a press release.
Currently, Bagley Rapids, Boot Lake, and Boulder Lake campgrounds are closed until further notice as well as all trails in that area.
A number of downed trees in the area have blocked road access.
The Forest has issued a Road and Area Closure for National Forest System lands in Oconto County including all roads, trails, dispersed and developed recreation sites.
Additional storms and rain Saturday may cause further damage to Forest Service roads, bridges, trails and recreation areas.
Peope visiting the Forest are encouraged to use caution when traveling on Forest Service roads, bridges and trails.
