Terry Klemett becomes Northland Pines varsity basketball coach
EAGLE RIVER - Northland Pines welcomes a new basketball coach this season.

Terry Klemett is taking over the varsity program from former head coach Troy Pieper, who left for Wausau East.

Klemett is a former college coach at both Michigan Tech and Finlandia.

This is his first high school coaching job.

He is optimistic about Pines' chances this season.

"We're going to have to understand what we want in a program and what our program will allow us to do," Klemett said. "Once they understand that, in their drill work and their practices, I think you're going to really see an exciting game of basketball from our group this year."

Pines finished the season with an 11-12 record last season.

The Eagles finished sixth out of seven teams in the Great Northern Conference.
