Police cleared in crash that killed two in Columbia County
COLUMBIA COUNTY - An investigation clears officers after two men died in a crash following an attempted kidnapping in the Stevens Point area.

Two brothers with similar names, Ter-rance Phillit Simmons and Terrance P. Simmons, died in the crash in Columbia County in late April.
Police trying to catch up with the brothers say they refused to stop while headed south on I-39.

They were moving faster than 100 miles an hour.

Spike strips were used to try to slow down the SUV the brothers were in.

Shortly after partially running over the spike strip, the SUV made sudden lane changes at high speed, and hit the back of a semi.

Both of the brothers were killed.

The Columbia County District Attorney decided the officers acted reasonably, given the risk to the public from the way Ter-rance Simmons was driving.
