NORTHWOODS - The State Legion Executive Committee will announce Saturday whether or not there will be a 2020 legion baseball season in Wisconsin.
Regional directors met virtually on Wednesday to make private recommendations to the committee.
Options range from a complete cancellation to going forward as scheduled.
Playing with a modified start date or without crowds is also an option.
Local legion coaches say they favor any solution that lets the kids play ball.
"When push comes to shove, I mean, if any way possible, I want the kids to be able to play baseball," said Antigo baseball head coach Alex Heiny. "Even if that means limiting the size of the crowds, I think it's more important for the kids to be able to play."
The WIAA is also allowing 30 contact days for spring sports to make up for their cancelled seasons.
It's possible that high school games could still go on locally either without a legion schedule or alongside it.
Practices and open gyms for legion baseball have been suspended since mid-March. The national legion World Series has already been cancelled, as have the regional tournaments.
Antigo is still tentatively scheduled to host the AA state tournament in 2021.
